Sunburn Facial Services in
Camp Hill, PA

The Sunburn Facial at Restorativ Health & Beauty is a gentle, deeply soothing treatment for skin that has had too much sun. A day at the beach, an afternoon on the golf course, or a long stretch in the yard can leave your face tight, red, hot, and dehydrated. This treatment is built to calm all of that down and put moisture back where the sun took it out.

There is no exfoliation, no strong actives, and nothing that will sting. Just cooling, hydrating, calming care applied with a very light hand. It is one of our most requested treatments through the summer months.

Soothing Relief for Sun-Exposed Skin

Sun exposure does two things to your skin at once. It triggers inflammation, which is the redness, heat, and tightness you feel, and it strips moisture, leaving skin dehydrated and uncomfortable. Neither responds well to being scrubbed or treated with actives, which is why this facial does the opposite of most.

The focus is entirely on cooling and rehydrating. We use calming, moisture-rich products applied gently, without exfoliation, extractions, or acids of any kind. The goal is to take the heat and tightness out of your skin and support your skin’s own recovery rather than adding to the stress it is already under.

What It Helps With

The Sunburn Facial is chosen to soothe and support:

• Redness and visible flushing after sun exposure
• Heat and that tight, uncomfortable feeling
• Dehydration and dryness from sun and wind
• Rough, flaky texture as skin recovers
• General sensitivity in recently sun-exposed skin
• Skin that feels stressed after a holiday or long day outdoors

When to Wait, and When to See a Doctor

We want to be straightforward with you here, because it matters more than the booking. A facial is not appropriate for every sunburn, and a genuinely burned face sometimes needs medical care rather than a treatment room.

Please contact a healthcare provider rather than booking with us if you have:

• Blistering anywhere on the treated area
• Skin that is broken, weeping, or peeling in sheets
• Severe pain
• Fever, chills, nausea, dizziness, or headache alongside the burn
• Swelling that is significant or getting worse
• Any sunburn covering a large portion of your body

If your burn is acute, very red, hot, and painful right now, it is usually best to wait a few days for the worst of the inflammation to settle. Call us and describe what you are dealing with, and we will tell you honestly whether to come in, wait, or see a doctor first.

What to Expect

Everything about this treatment is gentle and unhurried:

What to Expect — Timeline Section
01

A careful assessment

We look closely at your skin and ask about your sun exposure, how it feels, and any discomfort, then confirm the treatment is appropriate for you.

02

Cool, gentle cleanse

Your skin is cleansed with a mild, non-stripping product at a comfortable temperature.

03

Calming and cooling

Soothing products are applied to draw heat out of the skin and reduce that tight, flushed feeling.

04

Deep hydration

Moisture-rich serums and a hydrating mask replace what the sun stripped away.

05

Barrier support and protection

We finish with nourishing moisturizer to support your skin barrier, plus guidance on protecting the area while it recovers.

What to Do in the Meantime

If you are dealing with a sunburn right now and waiting to come in, a few simple things genuinely help. Cool, not cold, showers and gentle cool compresses take heat out of the skin. Drinking plenty of water matters too, since sunburn pulls fluid toward the skin’s surface.

Apply a plain, fragrance-free moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp, and keep the affected area out of the sun until it has recovered. Just as important is what to avoid. Skip exfoliants, retinoids, acids, and any strong actives until your skin is fully calm, resist the urge to pick or peel flaking skin, and stay away from very hot water.

Thinking Longer Term About Sun Damage

The immediate discomfort of a sunburn passes within a week or so. The longer-term effects do not. Cumulative sun exposure is the biggest driver of visible aging in skin, showing up over the years as uneven pigmentation, dark spots, broken capillaries, rough texture, and loss of firmness.

That means two things worth acting on. First, daily broad-spectrum SPF, worn year-round and not just on beach days, is the most effective thing you can do for how your skin looks in ten years. Second, if you already have sun damage you would like addressed, treatments like IPL, chemical peels, and microneedling are designed for exactly that, once your skin is fully recovered.

Why Restorativ Health & Beauty

Knowing when to hold back is as much a part of good skincare as knowing what to apply. Restorativ Health & Beauty was founded by a registered nurse and is guided by licensed medical providers, so your treatment happens in a clean, medically directed setting with real clinical judgment behind it. That matters especially with compromised skin.

We will assess your skin honestly, tell you if you should wait or see a doctor, and adjust everything to your comfort as we go. If something feels too warm, too firm, or not right, say so and we will change it immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on how severe it is. Mild sun exposure with redness and tightness usually responds well to a gentle soothing treatment. An acute burn that is very hot and painful is better left a few days to settle, and blistering, broken skin, severe pain, or feeling unwell means seeing a healthcare provider instead.

We would not promise that. What the treatment does is soothe discomfort, take heat out of the skin, and restore hydration, which supports your skin's own recovery and makes the process considerably more comfortable.

None. Exfoliation is the last thing sun-exposed skin needs, so this treatment deliberately avoids acids, scrubs, extractions, and strong actives entirely.

If the burn is mild, within the first few days is fine. If your skin is acutely hot and painful, waiting a few days for the worst of the inflammation to settle usually makes for a more comfortable and effective treatment.

Not directly. This treatment is about soothing recent exposure. For established pigmentation, dark spots, or texture from years of sun, treatments like IPL, chemical peels, or microneedling are designed for that.
