Laser Hair Removal in
Camp Hill, PA
Services
Laser hair removal at Restorativ Health & Beauty offers a lasting alternative to shaving, waxing, and the endless upkeep that comes with them. Using targeted laser energy to disable hair follicles, it reduces hair growth substantially over a course of sessions, leaving skin smoother with far less maintenance.
We perform it in a medically directed setting with proper assessment first, because laser hair removal is safe and effective when matched correctly to your hair and skin, and genuinely risky when it is not.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
The laser targets melanin, the pigment that gives hair its color. When the beam passes over your skin, that pigment absorbs the energy and converts it to heat, which travels down the hair shaft to the follicle. Enough heat damages the follicle’s ability to produce new hair.
The surrounding skin is largely unaffected, because the energy is drawn preferentially to the pigmented hair rather than the tissue around it. That selectivity is what makes the treatment work, and it is why results depend heavily on the contrast between your hair color and your skin.
Areas We Treat
Laser hair removal can be performed on most areas of the face and body, including:
• Underarms
• Legs, full or lower
• Bikini line and Brazilian
• Upper lip and chin
• Face and jawline
• Back and shoulders
• Chest and abdomen
• Arms and forearms
Smaller areas take only a few minutes, while larger areas such as full legs or a full back take considerably longer.

Why It Takes a Series
This is worth understanding before you book, because it explains why nobody can deliver permanent results in one session.
Your hair does not all grow at the same time. Each follicle cycles through three phases: active growth, transition, and rest. Laser only works on hair in the active growth phase, when the follicle is attached to the hair and pigment can carry heat down to it. At any moment, only a portion of the hair in any area is in that phase.
That is why a course is essential. Each session treats the follicles currently in active growth, and spacing sessions several weeks apart catches different follicles as they cycle in. Most areas need six to eight sessions, spaced roughly four to six weeks apart on the face and six to eight weeks on the body.
Will It Work for My Hair and Skin?
We would rather tell you honestly up front than take your money for a course that cannot deliver.
Laser hair removal works by targeting pigment, which means it works best on dark hair. It does not work on white or gray hair, and works poorly on blonde and red hair, because there is little melanin for the laser to target. If your hair falls into those categories, we will tell you at your consultation rather than putting you through sessions that will not produce results.
Skin tone matters differently. Darker skin can be treated safely and effectively, but it requires a laser with an appropriate wavelength designed for that purpose. Using the wrong wavelength on deeper skin tones risks burns and pigmentation changes. We assess your skin type properly and will be clear about what we can safely offer.
We also postpone or decline in certain circumstances, including recent sun exposure or tanning, pregnancy, recent isotretinoin use, photosensitizing medications, active skin infections, and tattoos in the treatment area.
What to Expect
Sessions are quick once you are set up:
Consultation and assessment
We assess your hair color, skin type, and medical history, review your medications, and confirm the treatment is safe for you.
Patch testing
We typically test a small area first to confirm how your skin responds.
Preparation
The area should be shaved beforehand, and we will confirm it is clean and free of products. You will wear protective eyewear.
Treatment
The handpiece is passed over the area, delivering pulses of energy. Most people describe it as a warm snap, with cooling used throughout for comfort.
Aftercare
We soothe the area and go through your aftercare, including sun protection.
Afterward, expect some redness and possibly small raised bumps around the follicles, a normal response that usually settles within a few hours to a day. Treated hairs often appear to grow for a week or two before shedding, which is the follicle releasing them rather than new growth.

Reduction, Not Removal
Worth being precise about this, since the industry is often loose with it. What laser achieves is long-term hair reduction rather than permanent removal. After a full course, most people see a substantial and lasting decrease in hair, with what remains typically finer and lighter.
Some follicles may recover over time, and hormonal changes can activate new ones, which is why periodic maintenance sessions are common. That is not a failure of the treatment, it is simply how it works.
Why Restorativ Health & Beauty
Laser hair removal is a medical treatment, and the difference between a good result and a burn comes down to assessment, device selection, and settings. Restorativ Health & Beauty was founded by a registered nurse and is guided by licensed medical providers, so your treatment is properly assessed and performed with real clinical oversight.
We assess hair color and skin type honestly, we tell you plainly when the treatment will not work for you, and we set realistic expectations about the course and the maintenance that follows.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most areas need around six to eight sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart on the face and six to eight weeks on the body, because laser only works on follicles in their active growth phase.
Most people find it very manageable, usually describing it as a warm snap like a rubber band. Cooling is used throughout, and sensitivity varies by area.
Shave the area a day or two before. Do not wax, pluck, thread, or use epilators for several weeks beforehand, as those remove the follicle contents the laser needs to target. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner before and between sessions, and skip deodorant, lotions, and makeup on the area on the day.
Poorly, or not at all. The laser targets melanin, so light hair provides little for it to work with. We will tell you honestly at your consultation.
Yes, with the correct laser wavelength. Using an inappropriate device on deeper skin tones risks burns and pigmentation changes, so proper assessment matters.
Not entirely. Laser produces long-term reduction, with remaining hair usually finer and sparser. Some follicles can recover, so periodic maintenance is common.
